Blade Runner
Blade Runner
1982
Director:Ridley Scott
Screenplay:Hampton Fancher, David Webb Peoples
Cast:Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, William Sanderson, Daryl Hannah
Overview:Rebelling against their fate as short-lived human slaves, six "replicants" have escaped to earth after an uprising on an outer world. A cynical 21st-century L.A. cop (Ford) is recruited to track them down; along the way he falls in love with one of the fugitives (Young). This is moody, beautifully photographed dark thriller; Scott's vision of Los Angeles circa 2020 has become one of the visual touchstones of modern movies.
Based on Philip K. Dick's
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? At least two different versions of this movie have been released as well as a 1993 "director's cut" in which Ford's voice-over was dropped, several short scenes inserted and the final scene, which Scott considered too "upbeat," was deleted. Sometimes spelled Bladerunner.
