ad-midsomer-dvdAvailable in over 200 countries and one of the most popular British mystery series of all time, Midsomer Murders debuted on television in the U.K. on March 23, 1997. Based on the crime novels by Caroline Graham and broadcast in the U.S. on the Biography Channel and A&E, Midsomer Murders follows the investigations of Detective Chief Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) in the fictional county of Midsomer. In the early seasons, he is assisted by Sergeant Gavin Troy (Daniel Casey), who plays a bumbling but vital Dr. Watson to Tom’s Sherlock Holmes. In later seasons, DCI Barnaby is assisted by DS Dan Scott, and currently by DS Ben Jones. Midsomer Murders is notable for its carefully crafted stories that revolve around the facade of a seemingly peaceful countryside that conceal all manners of vice and treachery – blackmail, sexual deviances, suicide and murder.
