Best known for his pointed mustache, Agatha Christie’s brilliant Belgian sleuth, Hercule Poirot, is masterfully portrayed by David Suchet.

ad-poirot-dvdAdapted from Christie’s popular mystery novels, Poirot became the most-watched detective in the history of PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery! series and regained popularity on A&E. Poirot finds himself helping police investigate a slew of crimes – whether his help is asked for or not – in various situations: while on holiday, in the countryside or around his London home. His trusty support team Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) and Scotland Yard Inspector Japp (Philip Jackson) are often by his side, helping the eccentric private detective. Poirot’s odd obsession with detail is often what leads him to find the culprit, as well as psychology and conversation. There’s no CSI unit here! Set amid the art deco elegance of 1930s Europe, the cases frequently deal with the glamorous members of the upper and middle class—stolen jewels, bank capers, mysterious deaths, and outright murder. Fabulous costumes and meticulous period detail add to the uniqueness and beauty of this series. Many critics and enthusiasts believe David Suchet’s characterization of Hercule Poirot is the most accurate interpretation of all the men who have taken on this role. The series has been nominated for 20 BAFTA Awards including Best Television Drama Series and boasts movie length and hour-long episodes. In February of 2009, ITV commissioned four more stories to be produced – “The Clocks,” “Three Act Tragedy,” “Halloween Party,” and “Murder on the Orient Express.”
